Mariah Carey is busy promoting her latest drop, Caution. During an interview with Genius, the singer took time to speak on other subjects including Drake. The short clip is available after the jump.

Carey cleared a sample for the rapper to use on Scorpion and says she is flattered Drake wanted to infuse his music with some of her musicality. The way in which the sample was used slightly surprised her, however. The “With You” singer first heard “Emotionless” through the phone. After her first listen, she assumed the production would modify her sample further. She thought of how Lauryn Hill’s track was integrated in “Nice For What.”

“I heard it over the phone at first, and I was like, ‘Oh, I’m sure they’re gonna speed it up. This is probably just a little snippet of what they’re gonna do.” she said. “They ended up using pretty much all of it. I was like, ‘Okay, well, I’m so glad they liked it.’ I was very flattered by it.”

When the diva was asked which Drake song she would choose to sample for her own music, Carey seemed to have already thought of this concept. She would love to use “Back To Back.”
