Cardi B Reportedly Turned Down Super Bowl Performance

Cardi stands with Kap.

With Super Bowl Weekend fast approaching, the NFL has been, seemingly desperately, attempting to pad the half-time show with artists. We’ve already seen both Travis Scott and Maroon 5 confirm their presence, and a recent rumor seemed to point to a growing interest in landing Cardi B. However, rumors quickly surfaced pointing to diva-like requests, which included one million dollars and her own set.

Today, Cardi B’s camp has issued a statement to Page Six, confirming that the rapper never had any interest in playing the Super Bowl in the first place. “The rumor circulating that she wants a million dollars and she wants her own set is false,” writes Cardi’s rep. “There was never a firm offer to begin with fora performance. “There [were] talks about it, but she was not particularly interested in participating because of how she feels about Colin Kaepernick and the whole movement.” To reiterate that fact, the rep confirms Cardi’s prior engagements on Super Bowl Weekend, during which she’s slated to perform with Bruno Mars.

As for Travis Scott, well, the bag must be secured by any means necessary. We’re not even sure if Jay-Z’s persuasion can change the Astroworld rapper’s mind. In any case, it appears that Cardi B will be putting her own belief system above the divisive concert, with her absence being a statement unto itself. Either way, the NFL’s Super Bowl remains on course, with or without Cardi B. Still, you’ve gotta respect her for holding fast to her belief system.
